Hi there.  I’m Bettina and the little guys you’ll see around here are Eamon and Rory.  They’re awesome.  They make my world go round (and bump, and crash and burn at times too!)

I’m also a yoga teacher and I mostly work with mothers who are struggling to carve out any time in their day for themselves.  I write and create resources to help them get out of their heads and into their bodies, feel more like their old selves and maybe even find a little more zen amongst the craziness of motherhood.

My hope for this space is that it inspires you to balance your creative side (the stuff that makes you feel good) with your role as Mama.

I write about all things motherhood, (mostly about how bloody hard it is!) , how to practice yoga with your little ones  (mostly to cope with said motherhood!)  and the creative projects that make me feel like me.

I believe in following your passions, being creative, following your own intuition, working hard but also taking the time to look after yourself.  I don’t always follow my own advice but I’m  trying to find that balance.

Officially I’m 200 hour yoga trained and working towards my level 2.  I have specialty training in pre and post natal yoga, as well as my own experience during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I also have a Bachelor in Education and a Masters in Guidance and Counselling.

When I’m not writing or teaching yoga, you’ll find me hanging at the beach (often upside down attempting to perfect my handstand) or covered in some sort of grout or grime as we’re renovating.  (We’re those people that bought the absolute worst house on the best street!)

Other random things you might like to know about me:

– I could live on peanut butter if it were necessary. Actually I think I maybe did when my first son was born (clearly I was looking after myself really well!)

– I was chuuuu-bbbby as a child and in my early teens and had to learn how to be healthy.  I went through all the crazy diets and forms of torture exercise routines before finding yoga.

– I get annoyed when it’s silent and I can hear someone chewing.  (Is that weird!?)

– Whenever I get in the shower I always imagine I can hear one of my boys crying.  Without fail. Every time.

– I often complain about not having any time to myself, but as soon as I get it, I feel like I’m missing my boys and want to come back home again.

  • Hi Bettina, I follow you on IG and I would LOVE to interview you for my YogaMama series of talks with mamas who are applying their yoga to the role of motherhood. Hit me up via email and we can arrange a time to skype, if you are keen 🙂

  • Hi Bettina I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You are very wise and have good insight. It does take time to navigate through all of these feelings and I think a lot of us women can relate to feeling guilt around our feelings…I also sometimes get stuck in feeling sorry for myself and really don’t like that place…yes be patient and kind to yourself…I keep shifting my focus back to the things and people I have got in my life and focusing energy on that, when I need gain a different perspective…..TOTALLY understandable for you to feel all of these things and for it to perhaps take lots of time…self compassion all the way, our biggest lesson in life I have found…Thank you for being authentic and raw and open..warmest wishes Suzie xxx

Thank you Suzie. Guilt is such a hard one to navigate. But the common message seems to be to give myself time. I’m doing my best to listen. xxx
