A simple natural cold and flu remedy

We’ve all had a dose of summer colds around here lately. I think it’s been the combination of Eamon starting kindy, me going back to work, generally being in contact with more people (and their accompanying germs) and being busier which has meant we all have been feeling a bit more run down than usual.

 

I’ve always been one to use natural remedies but have only recently started getting into things I can make in my own kitchen to help speed up our recovery.

 

This natural cold and flu remedy only has four ingredients and it was easy enough to put together whilst I cooked eggs on the stovetop beside it (the extent of my dinner making skills when we’re sick).

 

Ingredients

1 bulb of garlic

juice of 1/2 lemon

2 tbsp of lemon

2 cups water

 

Method

Crush the garlic (no need to peel it, just squash the whole thing) and add it to a saucepan.

Add 2 cups of water and simmer covered for fifteen minutes.

Add the lemon juice and honey and mix well.

Strain and keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

 

Take 15mls three times per day until cold symptoms are GONNNE!
