Slow and Simple

By nature I am a planner.  A dreamer.  A do-er.

I am rarely idle and if I am, it is likely I am only pausing briefly to plan my next move.

I wish I was one of those ‘wait and see’ type people but to be honest that sort of inaction has always made me a little nervous.  What am I doing if I’m not working towards x, y and z?

In the past this attitude has served me well.  I wouldn’t have done the things I’ve done if I hadn’t set intentions and then moved towards them.

I don’t think this means I am inflexible or react badly to change.  It’s that I just don’t like to wait out changes to see what they will look like, I prefer to start moving, changing and adapting now to (hopefully) be prepared for what’s around the next corner.

Unfortunately though,  nothing in life is certain, nothing is permanent, no one person can be relied upon, nothing is a ‘sure thing’…  I feel like the world is screaming this message to me at the moment.

Okay World.  I get it.

My stomach is in knots of anxiety over the fact that I cannot plan for next week, let alone next year, but I will take your message; it’s time for slow and simple.

I will make plans only to get us through the next few days.

I will relax into doing nothing.  Watching ants, picking flowers, sitting on the beach.

I will not make any major decisions.  Next week… next year… will all still be there waiting for me when I get there.

Luckily for me I have the best little teacher for all these things right beside me.

This is the perfect time of year to go slow…around the holidays I always feel hot and lazy and like I would rather swim and drink gin and tonics then make decisions and be productive.
    Enjoy doing nothing!
