This pregnancy yoga series is designed to support you through the first trimester.  The first trimester is often a time when you feel fatigued and nauseas. It’s also common to feel a little unsure in your new pregnancy and how to look after your body well.

This series is designed to help you connect to your body and your baby, as well as supporting your body to get the rest it needs to grow your baby.

This series includes:

Yoga classes

#1 energy – Use this class when you’re feeling fatigued and in need of an energy boost

#2  foundations – In this class we focus on getting the foundations and alignment of the body right now before the belly grows.  This will help you to reduce aches and pains later on. Alignment in the pelvis can also help you have a smoother birth experience.

#3 restore – The first trimester should be a time of rest because your body is already doing so much. In this class we move slowly and find poses to open and relax the body.

Meditations

#1 connect – Connecting with your baby can sometimes be difficult in the first trimester when you cannot yet feel them and your body doesn’t show obvious signs of pregnancy. In this meditation we nurture this connection right form the start.

#2 relax – This meditation is focused on bringing you into a deep state of relaxation to help you get the rest you need during the first trimester.

Description

Pregnancy yoga in the first trimester is gentle and nurturing. Our focus is on the breath (to restore energy) and gentle movements that allow the body to stretch out and release tension.

The first trimester can be a time filled with anxiety for many women. If you’re feeling particularly anxious in your first trimester, I recommend checking out my pregnancy anxiety yoga series instead.

First trimester pregnancy yoga takes into account the massive changes that are currently occurring in your body including:

What’s happening to your body?

  • Sore breasts
  • Possible nausea and vomiting
  • Feeling bloated
  • Exhaustion
  • Heightened emotions
  • Increased oestrogen and progesterone
  • Increased blood flow
  • May feel belly cramps as uterus grows
  • Acne from surging hormones
  • Bleeding gums
  • Possible heartburn
  • Insomnia
  • Need to frequently urinate

What’s happening with your baby?

  • Brain is beginning to form
  • Heart is beating by week 3
  • Umbilical cord is passing nutrients to the baby by week 14

How you might be feeling

Of course every woman reacts to pregnancy differently, and you may find your mood can rapidly swing between all or some of the following emotions during the 1st trimester.

  • Excited
  • Scared
  • Exhausted
  • Overwhelmed
  • Fear of miscarriage
  • Worried about how a baby will change relationship and career
  • Concerns over financial situation and security
  • Fear of birth and how you will handle pain

1 review for First Trimester Pregnancy Yoga Series

  1. Jo

I just wanted to write to tell you how grateful I am for your yoga videos. I am based all the way over in England and this is my third pregnancy (second was a loss at 12 weeks). I feel like it’s really hard to find classes to do in the first trimester but I really feel that I still need to move and stretch so I’m so grateful to have some safe classes to follow. I recently had a miscarirrage and am still only in week 6 of this pregnancy so I am feeling a bit of anxiety about how it’s all going to turn out. It’s been really comforting to listen to you talk about your journey and to listen to some of your meditations around anxiety in the first trimester.

Anyway I just wanted to say thanks and I look forward to doing more of your videos as my pregnancy progresses!
