Description

The first trimester pregnancy yoga series includes:

Yoga classes

#1 energy – Use this class when you’re feeling fatigued and in need of an energy boost

#2  foundations – In this class we focus on getting the foundations and alignment of the body right now before the belly grows.  This will help you to reduce aches and pains later on. Alignment in the pelvis can also help you have a smoother birth experience.

#3 restore – The first trimester should be a time of rest because your body is already doing so much. In this class we move slowly and find poses to open and relax the body.

Meditations

#1 connect – Connecting with your baby can sometimes be difficult in the first trimester when you cannot yet feel them and your body doesn’t show obvious signs of pregnancy. In this meditation we nurture this connection right form the start.

#2 relax – This meditation is focused on bringing you into a deep state of relaxation to help you get the rest you need during the first trimester.

Why you need first trimester pregnancy yoga

The first trimester can be a challenging time in your pregnancy. You’re likely bloated and swollen but no one knows you’re pregnant yet. By 3pm you’re exhausted down to your bones – despite sleeping ten hours last night.

Your “morning” sickness comes was falsely advertised because yours lasts all day.  You’ve probably cried more in the last month than you have in the last 3 years. Maybe you’re even beginning to wonder how you’ll make it through the next 35-ish weeks

Pregnancy yoga is gentle and nurturing. Our focus is on the breath (to restore energy) and gentle movements that allow the body to stretch out and release tension.

This first trimester pregnancy yoga series takes into account the massive changes that are currently occurring in your body including:

What’s happening to your body in the first trimester?

  • Sore breasts
  • Possible nausea and vomiting
  • Feeling bloated
  • Exhaustion
  • Heightened emotions
  • Increased oestrogen and progesterone
  • Increased blood flow
  • May feel belly cramps as uterus grows
  • Acne from surging hormones
  • Bleeding gums
  • Possible heartburn
  • Insomnia
  • Need to frequently urinate

How you might be feeling in the first trimester of pregnancy?

Of course every woman reacts to pregnancy differently, and you may find your mood rapidly swinging between all or some of the following emotions during the 1st trimester.

  • Excited
  • Scared or anxious (You may like to look into my
  •  as well).
  • Exhausted
  • Overwhelmed
  • Fear of miscarriage
  • Worried about how a baby will change relationship and career
  • Concerns over financial situation and security
  • Fear of birth and how you will handle pain

  1. Jo

I just wanted to write to tell you how grateful I am for your yoga videos. I am based all the way over in England and this is my third pregnancy (second was a loss at 12 weeks). I feel like it’s really hard to find classes to do in the first trimester but I really feel that I still need to move and stretch so I’m so grateful to have some safe classes to follow. I recently had a miscarirrage and am still only in week 6 of this pregnancy so I am feeling a bit of anxiety about how it’s all going to turn out. It’s been really comforting to listen to you talk about your journey and to listen to some of your meditations around anxiety in the first trimester.

Anyway I just wanted to say thanks and I look forward to doing more of your videos as my pregnancy progresses!
