Maxi Skirt Refashion

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen I finally found a moment to do a bit of sewing for myself.  I’d bought this skirt from an op shop a couple of months ago for $3.  It was a size 20, but I just couldn’t pass up the pretty floral fabric.  As you can see Eamon and I could fit in it together with room to spare. Andrew’s comment as I tried it on for this photo was ‘is that an old maternity skirt’. Hmmm…

This refashion is barely worth a tutorial as it was SO simple. So all I will give you is an image and a few tips.

How I did it.
– Try the skirt on inside out and pin the waist in to fit.  (Check you can still get it over your bum and off – trust me I did it wrong first time round).
– Pin and sew a straight line from the waistband to hem.  (Mine had elastic at the back so I pulled it in towards the front so that I didn’t lose the stretch).
– Check it fits.
– Trim and overlock.

See SUPER simple.

What do you think?  (Other than the fact that I need to stop sewing and find the time to get a haircut I mean!)

    I love it…super cute…especially for three dollars!
And I like your hair. Did Eamon find the time to get a haircut…it looks a bit shorter in the first photo?

Love it! It looks great. I love buying pieces like this as well and changing them up with a few stitches.
