January (2021) was a whirl wind / what’s in store for February
Where did January (2021) go? This month has been that delightful mix of ‘blink-and-you’ll-miss-it’ but also painfully slow. That strange time warp that occurs when you have young children.
The boys were all on holidays, which meant no actual days work for me. On one hand I love and relish the lack of schedules (and packing lunch boxes), but I also often find myself longing for a regular routine and time for myself again.
This holidays we’ve driven thousands of kilometres between the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Moura, and Bell sweating our faces off in Queensland summer heat. Here are a few snapshots of January…
February Goals
I’m trying to be a little more intentional this year and actually take the time to plan out my months. (So check back in with me in a month to see if I actually keep this habit up).
Me
- Take a 5 whole hours off. This might not sound like a big deal but lately I’ve been taking zero hours off. When the kids have been away from me over the holidays, I’ve used that time to furiously get work done. This year I have one day each week that I have some flexibility with and I want make sure I use at least one of those each month just for me.
- Prep better meals. Holidays always mean we end up a bit lax with food. We still eat pretty well but I want to get back into the routine of prepping good food this month.
Family
- Book a trip away for next holidays. Last year we had hoped to go away twice and only managed one holiday right at the end of the year. I’m determined to plan better this year.
- One-on-one time with the boys. Over the holidays it became verrrry apparent that the boys are needing some more one-on-one time with both Andrew and myself. I know this doesn’t just happen without planning so I want to make this happen more regularly in February.
Business
This year in business is all about better systems, especially around my website and with bringing in new teachers to my Online Yoga Circle.
- Start tackling my website upgrade with developer (this will probably be a few months worth of work).
- Get clear on how my affiliate system will work.
What I’m doing to achieve these goals
Let’s talk about how I’m going to achieve these things. I’m notorious for writing goals down and then getting caught up in family life and the next thing I know I’m sitting down to write the same goals for the next month.
Not ideal.
So here’s what I’m going to do.
- Write my goals somewhere I’ll see them daily.
- Schedule them today. If I don’t actually plan when these things will get done, they simply won’t. I’ve put them in my calendar so I know there is time aside for them.
- I’m telling you. Nothing motivates me like having to come back here in a month and tell you about it. Feel free to write your goals in the comments and I’ll hold you accountable too.
I’d love to know what your goals are for February. Let me know in the comments below.
