Are you suffering from low blood pressure during pregnancy? Feeling tired, dizzy, breathless. Yep me too.

While it’s hard to muster up the energy to do anything when you’ve got low blood pressure, a gentle grounding pregnancy yoga practice can really help you to feel less blah all round. I’m sharing a pregnancy yoga class for low blood pressure – watch it below or read on for some of my best tips for managing low blood pressure in pregnancy.

How to manage low blood pressure during pregnancy

Unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do when it comes to low blood pressure during pregnancy. Generally low blood pressure isn’t a cause for concern, although you obviously still want to get this checked with your doctor.

Personally here’s what helps me when it comes to low blood pressure during pregnancy:

Get enough sleep & rest

The effects of low blood pressure seem to be a lot worse when you’re tired. Making sure that you’re getting enough sleep and not trying to do too much (other than grow a baby!) can be really helpful.

Stay hydrated

Water. Water. Water. Water! Trust me, it helps – drink up!

Move slowly when going from lying to standing

To avoid seeing stars or the head spin, try and avoid moving too fast when you change from lying to standing.  The yoga class above is perfect because we stay close to the ground.

Avoid getting too hot

Allowing yourself to get too hot can make the effects of low blood pressure feel worse. Try not to wear too many clothes and keep your showers warm. (Or if you can brave it – try cold at the end to boost your energy).
