3 years & 3 months and what I miss about blogging.
I don’t know about you but I kind of miss what blogging used to be. When it used to be more like journalling. A bit more raw, and rough, and honest. It’s just so carefully curated and created these days that I miss when it used to be just people, telling their stories.
I miss the days when I was totally oblivious to the ‘best way to blog’ and ‘how to attract more readers’. When there was nothing to do other than record my thoughts and hit publish.
I don’t think blogging can go back. But for me, I’d like to recapture some of what I first came to blogging for. Simply to capture where we are now, for me to read later when I’m old and grey and wearing rose coloured glasses. When the days of tantrums and utter exhaustion are long forgotten.
At 3 years and 3 months this picture pretty much sums up Eamon at the minute. A ball of energy, full of personality, always seeking our attention, a little bit crazy and covered in dirt. His vocabulary and the way he speaks is out of control. He always asks what new words mean and then uses them in context only moments later. I cannot tell you how proud I am that my three year old knows how to use the word ‘pandemonium’ accurately. (It’s in one of his favourite books). He also likes to make up words and gives the most elaborate excuses for EVERYTHING!
Today I asked him some questions and his answers just crack me up.
What is your favourite thing to do?
Climbing
What is your favourite food?
Horsey Lemon {I have NO idea what this is?!}
What do you like best about Daddy?
When he does funny dances. Like this. See. {He then imitates Andrew’s dancing so accurately I laugh out loud}
What do you like best about Mummy?
When you sing. Like this! {Again imitates me very accurately}
What do we do that you don’t like?
I don’t like Daddy talking loud to me when I talk to Daddy back.
What’s your favourite colour?
I like green and black and brown.
What food don’t you like?
Cow lemon {?????}
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Superboy!
Do you miss how blogging used to be?
I miss reading blogs that were, well more just honest thoughts and not so finely published. I have not blogged for over a month. Part of me misses it, I have written yet not published so many posts, because most of them are just ramblings of my mind.
I vote ‘just press publish’ I love ramblings!
I loved your post. I have two kids too. I remember feeling what you are describing. My “baby” is almost 2 now. It will get better, I promise! I agree, it’s nice to hear real feelings and your actual thoughts. Good work!
Thanks Carolina. Great to hear it will improve!
